Each set of fish categories are required (1st through to 3rd place). Other awards may be given and these will be addressed at the Captains meeting prior to the event.
OFFICIALS
The Event Coordinator will supervise all facets of this sport.
Whether fishing from boats or from shore, several assistants will be on-site to monitor the competition.
A Protest Committee consisting of the event coordinator, the weigh master, and a member of the executive staff shall be assembled on matters regarding protests. The decision rendered by this committee is final.
FACILITY
A saltwater body suitable for angling. Fishing may be from the shore or a boat. Parking and an area for conducting weighing and scoring will be provided.
SCHEDULING:
Competition to be held over at least 2 days.
Briefing to be held the evening before at a captains meeting to explain, the rules and regulations, the start and fishing area, the weigh-in area and the weigh-in time.
SCORING
The fish will be scored by weight.
The scores in the Individual event will be the weight of the heaviest fish of each species selected for competition by the USFFG.
In the individual competition, if a competitor has caught more than one fish that would medal, only the heaviest will score. In other words a competitor may medal only once in the individual event even if they have caught the three heaviest fish.
In the case of a tie, multiple winners will be declared.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Each firefighter member on the boat wins a medal for total aggregate weight. Aggregate weight will be determined by weighing the largest fish from each fish category for each day of the tournament. Team medals will be awarded for each species designated by the USFFG. Chartered boats are allowed, but the captain is counted as a member of the team and is not allowed to fish, nor is he eligible for awards.
IGFA rules apply with the exception of treble hooks. Only one treble hook may be used with it being the second hook, which must be imbedded in the baitfish.
No wire lines. No electric reels. Maximum number of lines at a time being fished is 6 (six).
No gaffs longer than 8 foot.
All fish must be landed in whole condition. Mutilated fish will not be weighed. The weigh master will determine all decisions regarding mutilated fish.
No late weigh-ins from assisted boats, only those rendering assistance may weigh in fish. If you are not in line, your fish will not be weighed.
